QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Job Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (BQ), and tender documents for construction projects.
• Conducting quantity take-offs and measurements from construction drawings and specifications.
• Preparing and evaluating tender submissions, quotations, and cost comparisons from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Monitoring project costs, budgets, and expenditures to ensure compliance with the approved project budget.
• Managing progress claims, interim payments, variation orders (VO), and final accounts.
• Liaising with project managers, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers on contractual and cost-related matters.
• Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify discrepancies and potential cost implications.
• Assisting in contract administration, procurement, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintaining accurate records of project costs, payments, claims, and other quantity surveying documentation.
• Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, relevant construction standards, and company procedures.

What we're looking for

• A recognised qualification or diploma in Surveying or a related discipline from an accredited institution
• Proven professional experience working as a Surveyor in the construction or civil engineering sector, preferably in Malaysia or similar climate
• Proficiency in quantity take-offs, cost estimation, budget monitoring, and preparation of Bills of Quantities (BQ).
• Experience in handling progress claims, variation orders (VO), subcontractor payments, and final accounts.
• Familiarity with construction contracts, tendering procedures, procurement, and cost control practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and quantity surveying software. Knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, numerical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors.
• High attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and be based at the project site when required
