MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER
Position Summary
Kelab Golf Sarawak is seeking a dynamic and strategic Marketing & Public Relations Manager to
elevate the brand presence of Sarawak’s premier golfing destination. As the custodian of the KGS
brand, you will lead integrated marketing strategies to drive membership growth, increase facility
utilization (banquets, F&B, sports), and maintain excellent relations with members, media, and
corporate partners.
The ideal candidate is a proactive storyteller who understands the lifestyle and hospitality sector,
capable of balancing the prestigious tradition of the club with modern digital engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Brand Management
Brand Strategy: Develop and execute an annual marketing plan that aligns with KGS’s revenue goals and brand identity as the only 36-hole golf course in Sarawak.
Digital Presence: Manage and modernize the Club’s digital footprint, including the official website, social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), and member newsletters.
Content Creation: Oversee the production of high-quality visual and written content (photos, videos, copy) showcasing the golf courses (Matang/Santubong & Siol/Demak), F&B outlets, and event spaces.
Collateral Design: Ensure all club materials—from tournament brochures to dining menus—adhere to brand guidelines and high aesthetic standards.
Public Relations & Communications
Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national media, tourism boards (Sarawak Tourism Board), and golf publications to secure positive coverage.
Member Communications: Act as the primary editor for club notices, the Annual Report, and the
Berita KGS" (or equivalent) newsletter, ensuring members are well-informed of club news and policies.
Crisis Management: Serve as the official spokesperson (when designated) and manage communication strategies during sensitive situations or operational disruptions.
VIP Protocol: Coordinate media and PR protocols for high-profile visits, including government officials, royalty, and international dignitaries.
Event Marketing & Revenue Generation
Tournament Promotion: collaborate with the Golf Captain/Committee to market major tournaments, attracting corporate sponsorships and maximizing participant registration.
Facility Promotion: aggressive marketing of non-golf revenue streams, including the Banquet Hall
weddings/corporate events), Seminar Rooms, and F&B outlets (The Pavilion/Golfer’s Terrace).
Sponsorships: Identify and pitch partnership opportunities to corporate brands for course signage, event sponsorships, and cross-promotional activities.
Community & Member Engagement
Organize member-centric social events (e.g., festive gatherings, family days) to foster a strong sense of community and reduce attrition.
Monitor member feedback channels and online reviews, working with operations teams to address concerns and improve the member experience.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: o Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communications, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
Experience: o Minimum 7-10 years of experience in marketing or PR. o Prior experience in the hospitality, golf, tourism, or luxury lifestyle industry is highly preferred.
Skills: o Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. o Proficiency in digital marketing tools (Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics) and basic design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud) is a strong plus. o Strong networking ability and confident public speaking skills.
Attributes: o A keen understanding of golf etiquette and club culture (golfing ability is a bonus but not mandatory). o Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, to support club events.
