The C&S Site Supervisor monitors day-to-day civil and structural operations on-site. Acting as a bridge between the
engineering design team and the on-site labor force, this professional ensures structural integrity and strict
compliance with safety frameworks. The role requires strong technical knowledge of structural concrete, steelwork,
earthworks, and standard local building codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-Site Supervision & Quality Control
- Direct daily structural works including earthworks, piling, reinforced concrete (RC) structures, structural steel erection, and brickwork.
- Verify that all works execution strictly adheres to the approved construction drawings, method statements, and contract specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections of incoming materials (e.g., concrete slump tests, rebar grading) to ensure only approved materials are used.
- Identify structural defects or non-conformance issues, reporting them immediately to the project engineer for rectification.
- Coordination & Stakeholder Liaison
- Coordinate subcontractors and workers to maintain the target construction schedule and prevent trades from overlapping or conflicting.
- Liaise with external entities including resident engineers, architectural supervisors, M&E teams, and client representatives.
- Attend technical site meetings to clear design ambiguities and resolve structural implementation challenges.
- Monitoring of High-Risk Construction Activities
- Monitor high-risk activities, including working at height, excavation, piling, lifting operations, hot work, confined-space entry, and heavy machinery operations, as applicable.
- Verify that required work permits, method statements, risk assessments, barricades, and safety precautions are in place before work commences.
- Ensure lifting operations, equipment usage, and temporary works are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and applicable safety requirements.
- Stop or escalate unsafe work in accordance with the site's safety procedures and delegated authority.
- Incident Reporting & Investigation
- Report workplace accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, and unsafe conditions to the relevant site management personnel.
- Assist in investigating incidents to identify root causes and recommend appropriate preventive measures.
- Ensure incident reports, photographs, witness statements, and other relevant documentation are properly recorded.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to minimise the risk of recurring incidents.
- Safety Inspection, Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily safety inspection reports, site observation records, inspection checklists, and safety monitoring reports.
- Maintain records of toolbox meetings, safety inductions, hazard observations, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Inspect site housekeeping, access routes, emergency exits, warning signs, barricades, and fire prevention arrangements.
- Submit safety findings and recommendations to the relevant project management and safety personnel for follow-up.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in the construction industry, preferably in site safety supervision.
- Knowledge of construction site safety practices, hazard identification, and risk control measures.
- Familiarity with occupational safety and health regulations and construction safety requirements.
- Ability to conduct site safety inspections, toolbox meetings, and safety briefings.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify unsafe working conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Possess relevant Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) training or certification, where required.
- Able to work independently, monitor daily site activities, and coordinate effectively with site management, subcontractors, and workers.
- Proficient in preparing safety inspection reports and maintaining safety documentation.
- Responsible, proactive, and committed to maintaining a safe working environment.
