
ACCOUNTANT (1 Post)
Based in Kuching
Requirements:
Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Required 7 years and above of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the construction / infrastructure / property development
Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA / CPA / MIA) is an advantage
Good understanding of project costing, subcontractors payment and construction related expenses
Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
High level of integrity, accuracy and confidentiality. Able to work independently and meet deadlines
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and manage tax and SST (Sales and Services Tax) submissions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment.
Advise management on tax impact of variations, claims, and project structures
Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements including cash flow statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements.
Monitor budget vs actual costs, forecast final project cost, and analyse cost variances. Identify unusual or excessive expenditure and report to management.
Work closely with the Project Manager and QS team to track project-related purchases, subcontractor payments, materials, equipment, and other costs.
Review project claims, progress billings, variation orders, and related financial documents.
Ensure all accounting transactions are accurately recorded, properly supported, and in accordance with applicable accounting standards and Company policies.
Ensure timely closing of monthly and year-end accounts.
Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and legal advisors as when required.
Keep up to date with changes in financial regulations, taxation, SST requirement and other relevant legislation to ensure compliance.
Demonstrate a dynamic, proactive, and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to adapt to project-based financial requirements and changing business needs.
