GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT - Kuching
Key responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance, including greens, fairways, tees, bunkers, and landscaping.
Develop and implement agronomic programs (fertilization, irrigation, pest and disease control).
Manage and lead the maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Prepare and manage annual budgets, cost control, and procurement of supplies and equipment.
Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with club management to maintain and enhance course quality and playability.
Monitor weather conditions and adjust maintenance practices accordingly.
Requirement
Diploma/Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field.
Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and equipment maintenance.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification from a recognized turf or golf course management association (e.g., GCSAA)
Experience with modern irrigation and turf management technologies
Job descriptions
To coordinate, plan and manage the maintenance of the golf course and club compound of the club.
To plan and manage the continuous improvement and development of the golf course and landscaping of the club.
To plan water conservation and future sources of water into the golf courses.
To plan irrigation upgrading and electrical maintenance.
To prepare yearly budgets for the maintenance and development of the golf course.
To ensure all cultural practices including application of pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides undertaken are in compliance to all relevant regulatory requirements and guidelines.
To oversee and ensure the good working conditions of all machineries, tools, equipment, pumps, irrigation and drainage systems.
To maintain and update all records and stock inventories of machineries, tools, equipment, pumps, irrigation and drainage systems.
To conduct monthly meeting and weekly briefing with Golf Course Supervisors on work schedule.
To plan strategically and implement staff deployment in the Golf Course Maintenance Section for optimum output.
To draw out job description and guidelines for all staff in the Golf Course Maintenance Section and ensure full implementation.
To provide training and evaluation of maintenance staff to ensure their competencies in their respective fields.
To coordinate and facilitate with the Club on understudy to be trained as potential Golf Course Superintendent in the near future.
To ensure that employees understand and adhere to rules and regulations of the Club that has been spelt out to them and to furnish any misconduct or deviation from the rules and regulations to General Manager.
To coordinate and provide feedbacks to the relevant committee on the development and progress in the Golf Course Maintenance activities.
To sit in relevant committee meeting and to take minutes of the meeting.
To carry out any other assignments as directed by the General Manager from time to time.
To provide the necessary Technical, Operational and Safety & Health Training for all employees within the OSHA Guidelines, and to implement the proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPE).
