HSE ENGINEER - Miri & Kota Kinabalu
Key Responsibilities
Assist HSE Lead in providing advice to Project Management Team and employees on all Health, Safety & Environment matters related to daily operations
Liaise with local authorities on occupational safety and health (DOSH, CIDB) and environmental matters (DOE) and all applicable regulatory bodies
Monitor Annual HSE Plan and HSE Programs, campaigns and all planned action are fully implemented to maintain safe operations throughout the project lifecycle
Engage in regular dialogue with client representatives on HSE, offering solutions to challenges during offshore and onshore construction and fabrication activities.
Conduct regular safety meetings with supervisors and subcontractors to address operational concerns.
Deliver safety courses and briefings to employees and subcontractor workforces
Carry out pre-mobilization briefing and screenings including maintain a database of qualified and competent personnel
Provide clear leadership and guidance to the Offshore Safety and Health Officer (SHO) and HSE Promoter, ensuring alignment with organizational safety standards and regulatory requirements
Oversee day-to-day site HSE activities, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of preventive measures.
Track and evaluate the effectiveness of SHO and HSE Promoter initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement in safety culture and compliance.
Mentor and support SHO and HSE Promoter in developing technical expertise, communication skills, and proactive safety engagement strategies
Ensure timely reporting of incidents, near misses, and corrective actions, maintaining transparency and accountability across offshore operations.
Collaborate closely with client safety representatives on all safety and health matters.
The HSE Engineer will report directly to the HSE Lead and/or Project Manager on all related issues.
Requirements
Recognized degree or diploma in HSE or Engineering.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry.
At least 3 years in a similar role or capacity.
Possess Safety and Health Officer competency (valid SHO registration/DOSH)
Strong knowledge of government regulations and industry practices related to health, safety, and environment.
Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Preference will be given to Sabahan candidates.
